If you are not planning on renting a car & are flying into any of the airports listed above (except PVD), Amtrak might be a great option for you! An Uber, Lyft, or Taxi will be required once you get off the train in Rhode Island but once you make it to Newport, everything is walkable.

Boston, MA to Providence, RI

If you are flying into Boston Logan, you can get to the Grayhound Bus at Boston (South Station). The bus will drop you off in downtown Providence, RI. From Providence, you will be 34 miles from Newport. You can take the MBTA from Providence/Stoughton Line 819 towards Wickford Junction. From Wickford Junction, you will be 16 miles from Newport and will need to use Uber, Lyft, or a Taxi. You can also use Uber, Lyft, or a Taxi from Providence to Newport directly.

PLEASE NOTE that Greyhound picks up in every major city & can be utilized if flying into any of the airports listed above. Rhode Island only has two stations and both are in Providence.
