Kristina and Hyunpyo

Wedding Day

64 days until the big day!

Our Story

In the fall of 2019, we both packed up our belongings and moved from Rhode Island to Dallas/Fort Worth just weeks after each other, never having met but soon would in the beginning of COVID-19.

Our first meeting spot, which soon after became our frequented sunset spot, was White Rock Lake in Dallas. We sat six feet apart. Hyunpyo ate his cold pizza and warm beer while Kristina pretended to read a book & eat grapes "casually". If you know anything about Kristina, nothing is "casual" and she certainly does not like to read books.
Kristina had "casually" told Hyunpyo that she would be at the lake and that one day he should go there if he missed sunsets by the water since we both had left the Ocean State. What she did not tell him was that she wanted him to go there as she could not wait the 2 weeks of quarantine to meet him. Luckily, he took the bait, and have been inseparable ever since.

11,172 km (6,942 miles) between South Korea & Rhode Island. Out of all of the states in the USA, how does one choose Rhode Island to go to University?

About Hyunpyo:
Hyunpyo was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea to two loving parents and one older brother. As a kid, he enjoyed hanging out with friends, going to PC rooms, karaoke & causing slight mischief as most young boys do. After completing a summer internship in Highlands, North Carolina in 2009, and serving in the South Korean Army from 2010-2011, Hyunpyo knew he wanted to go back to America. In 2012, he set off to Miami, FL to intern at the St. Regis Hotel and soon after transferred to Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island where he would finish his degree in 2017.

About Kristina:
Kristina was born and raised in South Kingstown, Rhode Island to two loving parents and one older sister. As a kid she enjoyed playing multiple sports, playing video games, and going to the family cabin in New Hampshire. After completing a summer program at RISD, Kristina knew she wanted to pursue fashion in college and was accepted to the University of Rhode Island for Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, and Design for the fall 2012 semester. She finished her degree in the spring of 2016.

Fast forward to November 2023, after 3.5 years of dating, Hyunpyo planned a trip to Highlands, North Carolina which holds a very special place in his heart. There, he took Kristina around to all of his old "stomping grounds" from 14 years earlier and proposed in the very spot he used to watch sunsets during his internship.

To the beginning of our story...
